How to Add or Modify Master List in IRCTC Website

In this article, we will cover how to add or modify a master list in IRCTC Portal in detail. We will also cover the details of a passenger required to be stored depending on the type of passenger.

What is Master List?

The master list is basically the list of Passengers with preferred choice of Seat and Food you would like to save for quick booking in the future.

How to Navigate to Master List?

After you log in to the IRCTC portal, you need to go to My Account -> My Profile -> Add/Modify Master List as given in the below picture.

Passenger Details Required for Master List

Passenger Type

Select the Appropriate Passenger Type, such as –

• Normal User
• Person With Disability / Escort
• Journalist

Name

Full Name of the Passenger.

Travel Type

You will see this option only if you have selected “Passenger Type” as “Person with Disability / Escort” or “Journalist”

• In case you have selected “Person with Disability / Escort, you will see the below options as Travel Type
  • Person With Disability
  • Escort
• In case you have selected “Journalist” as the passenger type, you will see below the options –
  • Press Person
  • Press Spouse
  • Press Child
  • Press Companion

Date of Birth

Enter the Date of Birth of the Passenger which should be the same as the ID card’s Date of Birth. This is helpful to verify the Passenger during the journey.

Gender

Select the appropriate Gender. Appreciate the effort of IRCTC and Indian Govt. to add “Transgender” as a gender option.

Berth Preference

Please enter the berth preference out of the below options.

• NO CHOICE
• Lower
• Middle
• Upper
• Side Lower
• Side Middle
• Side Upper
• Window Side
• Cabin
• Couple

Food Choice

This is helpful in case you would like to pre-book your meal, this will be auto-selected if a booking option is available during ticket booking. You can of course change it manually. Please select one of the below options as your food choice.

• Veg
• Non-Veg
• No Food

Concession Card No

This option is enabled only for Passengers type – Persons with Disability and Journalists. The concession Card contains the Station code. In some cases, the Station code is less than 4 digits. In such a case, while entering Station Code, please add the extra required number of ‘0’ before making it 4 digits.

ID Card Valid Up To Date

This option is available and mandatory for Concession Card Holders(Persons with Disability or Journalists).

Senior Citizen concession

Depending on your Date of Birth entered above and your gender, this option will be enabled/disabled. This option is given in case you wish to Opt-in for Senior Citizen Concession, Partially Opt-out, or Fully Opt-out you can make your decision using this Drop Down.

Male Senior Citizen’s minimum age is 60 years and Female Senior Citizen’s minimum age is 58 years can avail of this concession.

If this option is enabled, you will get the below options to select to avail/forgo your concession.

• AVAIL CONCESSION
• FORGO 50% CONCESSION
• FORGO FULL CONCESSION

ID Card Type

IRCTC accepts a wide range of ID cards listed below. You need to Select one of these.

• AADHAR ID/VIRTUAL ID
• BANK PASSBOOK
• CREDIT CARD WITH PHOTO
• DRIVING LICENSE
• GOVT. ISSUED ID-CARD
• PAN CARD
• PASSPORT/TRAVEL DOCUMENT
• STUDENT ID-CARD
• VOTER ID-CARD

ID Card Number

Depending on the ID Card Type, you need to enter the ID Card Number.

How to Create a Master List in IRCTC?

We will keep this section short as we have already explained and everything in detail in the above steps.

You need to follow the below Steps:

• Login to IRCTC Portal
• Navigate to My Account -> My Profile -> Add/Modify Master List.
• Depending on the Passenger type, enter the details. For details, please refer to the above section.
• Validate and click on the “Submit” button to save it.

How to Modify a Master List?

You need to follow the below Steps:

• Login to IRCTC Portal
  Navigate to My Account -> My Profile -> Add/Modify Master List.
• Scroll down and check for the “SAVED PASSENGER LIST” section.(image given for reference)
• On the right-hand side of each saved Passenger, you will see options to Update(Pencil Icon) or Delete(Trash Icon).
  • To Update, Click on the Pencil icon of the passenger for whom you would like to update the information, and click on the “Update” button after the correction is made.
  • To Delete, Click on the Trash icon of the Passenger whom you would like to remove from the Master List. A confirmation pop-up will come to re-confirm if you really want to delete the passenger. Click the “Yes” button to proceed with removing the passenger from the Master List.

Use of Master List Passenger

• Eliminates Manual Error while entering Passenger details every time
• The Master List makes it easy to store our Passenger information in one place which can be reused several times.
• Extremely helpful while booking a Tatkal Ticket. because each second is very important while booking Tatkal Tickets.
